St Bride Foundation launches new 'Foster-A-Book' fundraising campaign - Spread the Word!

Submitted by: The Two Sides Team 19/11/2015

The much-loved St Bride Foundation is in need of a major restoration to bring the building back to its former glory. The Heritage Lottery Fund hopes to support the Foundation, but first £125,000 needs to be raised to conduct the initial surveys and produce plans.  The campaign was launched on the 21 October 2015 and that will be 125 days since the Foundation started on the 23 February 1891, when it will celebrate its 125th year anniversary.

Many of you will be aware St Bride Foundation is a charity, which housed the original print school and technical library and opened its doors on 23 February 1891 to serve the community of Fleet Street and the surrounding area.

St Bride Library has one of the world’s most remarkable collections of books and artifacts celebrating the history of print in all its glory.  It has been an incredible, irreplaceable resource for past generations and we now need to ensure it grows and develops for future generations of printers and designers.

The Heritage Lottery Fund hopes to support the Foundation going forward with much-needed funds to bring the building back to its former glory.  To begin restoration however, the Foundation needs to conduct surveys and produce plans.  Our new campaign calls for your support to help raise £125,000 to start this process.

The campaign was launched on the 21 October 2015 and that will be 125 days since the Foundation started on the 23 February 1891, when it will celebrate its 125th year anniversary.
