THE IPA’s LATEST consumer survey has predicted that Christmas 2025 could be a great time for print media, as almost half of all British adults plan to limit their screen time across the festive period.
Based on a survey of 2,000 UK adults, the 2025 IPA Christmas Consumer study reveals that Gen Z is driving the planned digital detox, with nearly two-thirds (64%) saying they plan to slash their seasonal screen time, with millennials close behind (57%). When asked why they want to put down their devices, 62% say that too much screen time takes away from what Christmas should really be about, and nearly two-thirds (65%) say that Christmas is a time to put the phone away and be more present.
While this is good news for families and friends getting together and being more social also presents an opportunity for brands to use print to engage their customers during the crucial festive period. “In an environment where capturing attention may prove more difficult,” said IPA Insights Manager Eric Kreis, “brands will have to work even harder to stand out through relevant, resonant and emotionally engaging advertising.”
